Preface

I wanted an orange colored Gene Stealer, mostly inspired by Star Wars use of orange in the Rebels logo. I also wanted a darker flesh and finally a simple white paint scheme for the suits. I was surprised to read that the Cult of the Rustic Claw exists and matches my ideas.

Prime

1. Prime the entire model White.

Flesh

I wanted a darker base of flesh for Gene Stealers than the popular recipe.

1. Base Bugman's Glow
2. Wash Druchii Violet
3. Layer Genestealer Purple & Kislev Flesh Mix these in equal parts.
4. Layer Warpfiend Grey Not your traditional layer, instead use this to break up and add variations to the skin tone. Apply sparing. It might help if you visualize this as having a rash.

Details - Cloth

I painted the skirt and other cloth orange. Skirt and primary details.

1. Base Jokaero Orange
2. Wash. Mix of 3 parts Fuegan Orange + 1 part Nuln Oil
3. Layer. Troll Slayer Orange Multiple light layers. Brighten up orange by using thin light layers.

Details - Alternate Cloth

When variation in cloth color is needed, I found Coral Orange was helpful.

1. Base Ushabti Bone
2. Wash Fuegan Orange Paint this over the entire area, if you allow pooling, only in the recesses to create a clean finish over the cloth. Consider a second thin coat into the recesses to add more depth.

Suit

If you have a large area of white, you may wish to apply Wraithbone in some areas to break up the tone.

1. Wash Nuln Oil Wick up a sparing amount to the brush and apply a light touch to the recesses. Use this on the hoses as well.
2. Layer White Scar Use white to touch up area, and make a clean edge where needed.
