This is really just a noobs place to save the steps they did for their first model

Armor base

I generally paint the base coat on the sprue.

  1. Prime with Chaos Black spray.
  2. Dry brush edges with Corax White .
-> Focus white on armor edges, but not too much on the under suit.
  3. Soft shade a thin base coat layer of Macragge Blue , only on parts that will be blue.
-> Take care to be precise around armor panels and and not get paint on parts that will later be a different color.

-> If your model has a standard blue or base blue helmet, paint it in this step.

-> Avoid getting blue on under suit.

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be metallic: Backpack (Standard).

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be metallic: Backpack (Other).

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be metallic: Weapons.

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be metallic: Holsters.

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be metallic: Helmet details.

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be a different color: Sergeant helmets (If applicable)

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be leather: Pouches.

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be leather: Belt.

-> Avoid getting blue on parts that will later be a different color, like purity seals.

  1. Dry brush armor edges only with Corax White .
-> Armor edges only! Under suit should only have light dry brushing from earlier dry brushing step.
  2. Soft shade another thin coat of Macragge Blue .
-> Try to get the dry brushing from previous step to pop through.
-> Avoid getting paint on areas as mentioned in previous base coat step.
  3. Deep shade deep recess details with watered down Abaddon Black .
-> Water it down enough so that it flows into crevices.
  4. Shade panel lines with slightly watered down 1:1 Macragge Blue and Abaddon Black
  5. Touch up shades with Macragge Blue .
-> Take care not too touch up too deeply
-> Make sure paint is not watered down so that it does not flow into recesses.
-> Only touch up close to edges that have unwanted Abaddon Black .
  6. Fine brush: Chunky highlight with watered down 1:1 Macragge Blue and Calgar Blue .
  7. Fine brush: Edge highlight with Calgar Blue .
-> Pay special attention to edges that will catch the light.
  8. Touch up under suit with Abaddon Black

  1. Paint leather parts with a thick coat of XV-88 .
  2. Wash with a tick layer of Nuln Oil . Wait for it to dry.
  3. Wash again with a tick layer of Nuln Oil . Wait for it to dry.
