Khorne Bloodletter

  0

Sample bloodletter for army.

Bloodletter Skin

  1. Prime in black
  2. Reverse Zenithal of Khorne red from underneath the unit pointing upward towards the face.
  3. Do a Normal zenithal highlight using pyrole red. Follow up with a second pass of Zenithal highlight after mixing 2 drops of white ink in to the pyrole red but strictly at 90deg only.
  4. Drybrush Wild Rider Red keeping the brush direction going from top to bottom so it picks up on the upward facing surfaces.
  5. Thin down Plasma Red with contrast medium at a ratio of 1:3 and apply over the model using a brush. Be mindful of pooling and draw the brush towards the shadows with your strokes.
  6. Thin down Bitume oil paint, using odourless thinner. I made this very thin at rough ratio of 12 drops of thinner to a pea sized blob of oil paint. Use this to darken the muscle recesses primarily around the abs and then some select areas such as eyes, teeth, between fingers and on the skin bumps. Applying it thin on the bumps should mean it slides off and pools at the bottom to give a bruised effect.
  7. Wait for 10 - 20 minutes after applying the oil wish/pin wash and then use a cotton bud with odourless thinner to brush off any oil which may have gone on the top surfaces of the model. Once you dab the cotton bud in the odourless wash, touch it gently on a paper towel so it is more damp than wet.
  8. Apply pyrole red back over the skin bumps and symbols then apply a final highlight of wild rider red on the very peaks of some of the skin bumps and skin symbols.

Horns

  1. Paint the horns 60-70% with abbadon black and then blend/glaze the bottom 20-30% to have a transition from red at the base to black.
  2. For the models with additional brass covers over the horns, ****** what brass was used? ****** mixed with umbar ink. I wanted it to be slightly different to the swords. I then did a select highlight using ***** brass paint **** by itself.

Reverse Volcanic Hellblade

  1. Base coat the blade, hilt, grip and pommel in black
  2. Drybrush white over the edges of the blade and the tip. This should cover the majority of the tip but make sure to have a natural blend with the black base. Further down the sword focus more on the very edgee
  3. Explain the contrast blade section. What black contrast at base? Flesh tearers red from roughly 1/3rd up to 1/2 then magmadroth flame upper section but not all the way to the top. What yellow contrast at the tip? Wet blending the transitions as it's contrast paint. Reapply black contrast to the centre if it got too light.
  4. Apply a brass TMM to the hilt. I used hoplite gold and, once dried, I did an umbar ink wash because I didn't have a brass TMM. This might need 2 passes of the ink.

Face Features

  1. xpress deep purple over the tongue straight on top of its red base. It was red due to the previous zenithal and plasma red and provided a good base
  2. Pallid Wych flesh teeth
  3. White eyes followed by flash gitz yellow but any bright yellow will work.

Base

  1. Apply thick AK Interactive Dry Mud texture paste and place some skulls for extra effect. When applying the paste, try to leave areas for blood effect for later. Streams, dips in the ground etc.
  2. Paint over the texture paste with black then drybrush using a medium grey like dawnstone to pick up the peaks.
  3. Paint the skulls using skeleton horde.
  4. Apply Matt Varnish over the model. Wait for 2 hours and then apply gloss varnish over the TMM areas as the Matt varnish will dull them down.
  5. Apply blood for the blood god technical paint in select areas on the base. If you want, you can also dab this on the bloodletters feet. Make sure to apply it very thinly over the skulls if you want to add an effect like blood running off of them.
