I'm a novice painter so there is nothing really groundbreaking or outstanding here.
I want to paint my Tau suits in TMM. I used an insignificant model to test and write down my scheme.
Building an Priming
- Build the model, don't glue the head piece yet, just push fit in for priming
- Prime with Matt Black
- Remove head piece, prime the insides that didn't get caught with the spray primer with a brush with Matt Black
Base Coat
- Paint the body, the inner circle of the head piece and the rocket launcher body with Ruby Red
- Paint the upper panels, the middle panel of the head piece, the risen parts of the rocket launcher and the feet with a mixture of 50% Ruby Red and 50% Obsidian Black
- Paint the rim of the head piece and the rocket launcher with Uniform Grey
Details
- Paint the rivets on the side with Red Copper
- Drybrush the inside mechanics of the the turret and turret head with Red Copper
- Paint lenses with Deep Azure and/or Scarlet Blood to your liking
- Highlicht the blue lenses with a bigger dot of Aquamarine , the red lenses with Raging Rose on the bottom corner. Add a small dot of Bold Titanium White on the upper corner.
- Clean up the rockets and the back of the rocket launcher with Matt Black
Highlights and finishing touches
- Paint the inner and outer parts of the Tau symbol in the middle with Bold Titanium White , clean up with Matt Black .
- Edge highlight the metallic parts with Ruby Red
- Edge highlight the grey parts and rockets with Company Grey . Note that I used Titanium White, which was a mistake.
- Varnish everything with Varnish Gloss
- Panel line with AK Weathering AK12102 PRECISION PANEL LINER - BLACK
- Varnish the metallic parts with Varnish Gloss and the grey parts with Varnish Matt
Base
- Green Stuff World Martian Textures Fluror Blue, drybrush with a lighter blue tone, light drybrush with white. I have added Green Stuff World Martian Tuffts and a crystal from GSW.
