In this guide you will find step by step instructions showcasing how to paint the new Emperor’s children models.

  1. Undercoat your models with Leadbelcher . This can be done using a spray or base paint.
  2. Wash the entire model with Targor Rageshade making sure it doesn't pool awkwardly.
  3. Selectively wash the model with a 1:1 mix of Druchii Violet and Lahmian Medium . Focus on the recesses of parts you want to be silver (such as the trim and weapons)
  4. Shade the gun casing with Nuln Oil . This makes the casing darker than the rest of the gun.
  5. Drybrush the entire model with Stormhost Silver . Again focus on the parts you want to be silver.
  6. Paint the black armour with Grey Seer .
  7. Paint the pink armour with Fulgrim Pink . You will most likely need to apply multiple coats to get an even colour.
  8. Paint the leather and cables with Wraithbone . You may need to apply two or three coats for an even coverage.
  9. Paint the gold with Retributor Armour . Try to avoid getting this on other parts of the model.
  10. Paint the tassels, lenses, and different capes with Ulthuan Grey .
  11. Paint any remaining capes and cloth with Pink Horror .
  12. Paint the space marine's skin and the flayed skin with Rakarth Flesh .
  13. Wash the pink armour and the gold with Carroburg Crimson .
  14. Paint the black armour and ribbing with Black Legion .
  15. Wash the flesh and pink cloth with Targor Rageshade .
  16. Paint the different cables and such with your choice of paints. I chose Flesh Tearers Red , Imperial Fist , and Frostheart .
  17. Shade the tassels, eye lenses, and the cloth you want to be green with Biel-Tan Green .
  18. Wash the remaining cloth with Apothecary White .
  19. Edge highlight the pink armour and cloth with Fulgrim Pink .
  20. Edge highlight the black armour with Eshin Grey .
  21. Edge highlight the cables, eye lenses, green cloth, white cloth, and the raised edges of the pink armour with Ulthuan Grey .
  22. Edge highlight the black armour again using Dawnstone . Do this very carefully.
  23. Edge highlight the flesh with Rakarth Flesh .
  24. Edge highlight the flesh again with Pallid Wych Flesh .
  25. Pin the cabling, eye lenses, green cloth, white cloth, and pink armour with White Scar .
  26. Edge highlight the gold with Stormhost Silver .

Other details

  1. Paint the white parts of the sonic weapons with Ulthuan Grey .
  2. Shade the white parts of the sonic weapons with a 1:2 mix of Biel-Tan Green and Lahmian Medium .
  3. Edge highlight the white parts of the sonic weapons with White Scar
  4. Shade the tank tracks with Agrax Earthshade .
  5. Drybrush Steel Legion Drab lightly onto the parts of tanks closest to the ground.
  6. Stipple some Rhinox Hide or any other dark brown paint onto the lowest parts of vehicles.
  7. Apply some Blood For The Blood God to the areas you choose. I apply it to the swords and around places with the most hideous mutations. I also use a sponge to paint some across the tracks of land raiders, as if they've just run over someone.

I am relatively new to painting Miniatures. I have a decently large blood angels space marine army for warhammer 40k and a (very) small stormcast eternals army for age of sigmar.
