This is the recipe that I have been using for my Emperor's Children!

Credit to DarthCosiCat for inspiration for a lot of this.

  1. Prime whole model with Leadbelcher
  2. Wash entire model with Targor Rageshade , make sure it doesn't pool weirdly
  3. Wash again with a 1:1 mix of Druchii Violet and Lahmian Medium
  4. Dry brush the entire model with Stormhost Silver , focus on the trim and any other areas you want to be silver
  5. Wash the undersuit and the bolter with Nuln Oil to dull the shine and darken them up
  6. Apply a thin layer of Abaddon Black to the undersuit
  7. For the black armour/gun casings/etc. I use a 2:2:1 mix of Black Legion , Black Templar , and Contrast Medium . Apply it with a wet brush so that you get thin, smooth layers. Apply more layers until you achieve the effect you want.
  8. Base coat the armour panels you want to be pink with Emperor's Children .
  9. Paint the pink armour again with Fulgrim Pink . Use multiple thin layers so that you can get it as smooth as you want it, or you can have some of the dark pink showing through if you want too.
  10. Paint the leather (Belts, straps, pouches, holsters etc.) With Wraithbone . Make sure you get a nice even coat.
  11. Paint all of your gold bits with Retributor Armour , best practice is use multiple thin coats to get a shinier metalic effect.
  12. For any pink cloaks/weapon grips, you want to use Screamer Pink , or if you want the pale green cloaks then start with a base coat of Corax White (stay with me here)...
  13. Go over the gold again with a couple of thin layers of Liberator Gold to make it pop.
  14. Pick out some of the smaller details like shell casings, syringes, and grenades, with Runelord Brass
  15. Paint the Marines flesh and any flayed skin with Rakarth Flesh , add this point i normally highlight the marines skin with Pallid Wych Flesh too, just so it looks different from the dead stuff.
  16. Do the hair, tassles, lenses, vials, and tubes with Sybarite Green , and paint any "empty space" in the bottles/vials with Incubi Darkness .
  17. Using Gauss Blaster Green , highlight all of the green areas (hair, lenses, tassles, etc), and add the surface line for the "liquid: in any of the bottles/vials.
  18. Wash the pink armor and gold areas with a 1:1 mix of Carroburg Crimson and Lahmian Medium .
  19. Go over the leather areas with Ratling Grime and then wash with Agrax Earthshade
  20. Wash any pink cloaks, the skin, and the flayed flesh with Targor Rageshade
  21. Wash all of the green (hair, tassles, tubes) with Biel-Tan Green , and wash any cloaks that you have painted white with it to get that pale green colour.
  22. Give the brass a quick splash of Nuln Oil and youre done 🤘🏻

*OPTIONAL BITS FOR SPECIFIC MODELS BELOW*

  1. For the white pauldron on the Flawless Blades, base it with Corax White and then give it a thin layer of Apothecary White
  2. For the sonic weapons on the noise marines, paint the weapon casing with Apothecary White and give it a glaze with a 1:1 mix of Biel-Tan Green and Lahmian Medium
  3. For a cool (and really easy) black leather/latex effect, use a 1:1 mix of Abaddon Black and Ardcoat
