A guide on how to paint blood angels space marines
Start the model by undercoating it with Mephiston Red spray. Once this has dried apply an undercoat of Mephiston Red . This increases the brightness slightly and covers any places you may have missed.
Wash the red armour with Carroburg Crimson . Don't worry if this gets on the other details as these will all be painted over later.
Layer the red armour carefully with Evil Sunz Scarlet . Avoid getting paint in the recesses.
Carefully paint the dots across the red armour with Flesh Tearers Red . The paint will gather around the dots creating shading. Also use this paint to correct any mistakes from the previous step.
Drybrush the red armour with Wild Rider Red . This will apply highlights to the model much quicker than using other techniques.
Drybrush the armour again with Fire Dragon Bright . There should be almost no paint on the brush.
Block in all the black details with Abaddon Black . These are the gun casings, the mesh between the armour, the leather areas, and the black shoulder pads on sergeants
Basecoat the silver/gunmetal areas with Leadbelcher . If you go onto the red armour paint over it with Evil Sunz Scarlet .
Basecoat the gold areas with Retributor Armour . This will be any iconography on the armour and weapons (excluding the chest icon), the shoulder trim and head of veterans, and the hilts of power swords.
Paint the parchment with two thin coats of Rakarth Flesh . As always avoid the already painted areas.
Basecoat the wax seels with Barak-Nar Burgundy . Keep your paint thin to avoid clogging up the details.
Layer the wax with Pink Horror . Keep the paint out of the recesses.
Apply a chunky edge highlight of Eshin Grey to the black details. Also paint the chest symbol with this paint.
Wash the silver metal with Nuln Oil . Also shade the chest symbol.
Wash the parchment with Agrax Earthshade . Try to avoid pooling.
Wash the gold areas with Reikland Fleshshade . Apply two coats if you want a warmer finish
Edge highlight the chest symbol, leather, weapon casings, and the mesh between the armour with Dawnstone .
Edge highlight the metallic areas with Stormhost Silver . Apply this selectively wherever you think catches the light the most.
Basecoat the eye lenses with Warpstone Glow . Apply in 2 or 3 thin coats.
Carefully apply some Moot Green to the centre of the eye lenses and then a fine highlight around the eye lenses as shown.
Hello :) Paint a wide variety of Miniatures using Citadel paints, make tutorials mainly so I remember how I paint my models. Hope you enjoy.
