I'm aiming to get something close to the Novokh Dynasty scheme but with Purple instead of red.

Whole Body Metal Work

  1. Base coat in black (e.g., Chaos Black ).
  2. Heavily drybrush the entire mini with a metallic grey (e.g., Necron Compound ).
  3. Drybrush (in a vertical manner) a secondary metallic color (e.g., Canoptek Alloy ).

Carapace & Armour Shading

  1. When applying washes to the Carapace and Armour, be careful that the washes don't pool too much. Allow the washes to dry between each application.
  2. On the Carapace joints, add a wash of Basilicanum Grey .
TODO: Test a paint that would leave the joins dark.
  3. On the armor plates, add a wash of Nuln Oil .
TODO: Test mixing just a bit of White Scar with the Nuln Oil .

Armour & Panels Highlighting

  1. For the Armour and Panels that will stay gray, edge highlight with Iron Hands Steel (instead of highlighting with Canoptek Alloy ).
  2. Further highlight edges on the top-most parts of the Panels (that will stay gray), where light hits harder, using Stormhost Silver ).

Main Spine & Weapons

  1. Apply Black Templar to the main skeleton spine and to the whole weapon.
  2. Dry brush the surface with neural gray (e.g., Stone Wall Grey or Dawnstone ).

Green Cables

  1. Base coat the cables with Caliban Green .
  2. Wet blend the (now) green cables with Warpstone Glow .

Little Green Glow Effect

  1. For the regions of the model that will glow green, base paint with White Scar .(e.g., for the glowing orbs).
  2. Add a source lighting effect by lightly dry brushing the areas around the white areas, using circular motions, with Praxeti White .
  3. Apply Tesseract Glow over the main white glowing regions.
  4. Dry brush, with a very lightly loaded brush, around the "glowing" areas with Tesseract Glow (also with circular motions).

Large Green Glow Effects (e.g., on large blades and orbs)

  1. For the orbs, base coat them with Stone Wall Grey .
  2. Layer the grey orbs with White Scar .
  3. To create the luminance profile for the blades, dry brush the large areas in circulat motions (which should be black, e.g., having been painted before with Black Templar ).
  4. Similarly, for the brightest areas, use White Scar to apply a luminance profile with the dry brush technique.
  5. Cleanup and bring in some dark areas by painting on key areas with Corvus Black .
  6. Apply Tesseract Glow to the grey orbs and the large greyish areas. Apply the green on top of the black areas (e.g., of swords) too.
  7. When everything is dry, apply a thin layer of Warpstone Glow over the big glowing orbs.
  8. Optionally, dry brush in circular motions Tesseract Glow (with an old brush) around the green areas to simulate the light around the glowing areas.

Weathering Effects

  1. Use Agrax Earthshade in targeted regions where stains, grime, and weather should show up.
  2. Accent sharp details (by dry brushing) with Leadbelcher .

Base

  1. Base coat with Stormvermin Fur .

Purple Colored Shoulders

  1. Base coat the large shoulder plates with Genestealer Purple .
  2. Wash over the purple with Agrax Earthshade .
  3. Edge highlight with a 50/50 mix of Genestealer Purple and Hoeth Blue .
  4. Small highlights, where light would be the most visible, with Hoeth Blue .

Face

  1. Base gold area with Retributor Armour .
  2. Optional: Free paint on top of the gold parts with Genestealer Purple .
  3. Wash the entire area with Agrax Earthshade .
  4. Edge highlight gold with Liberator Gold .
  5. Edge highlight the purple areas with a 50/50 mix of Genestealer Purple and Hoeth Blue .
