A simple recipe I developed to batch paint and entire army quickly and be able to add new units easily that all look awesome on the battlefield with minimal steps.

Airbrush + Drybrush = 😎

Ratios = (paint:thinner)

Underpainting & Prep

  1. Prime black (3:1)
  2. Zenithal off white (1:4). Directly above and on areas of interest so the contrast is dramatic and most of the model remains dark. Otherwise the underpainting gets too bright.
  3. Underpaint dirty red from above (1:4)
  4. Underpaint blue ink from below (5:1)
  5. Drybrush purple + white (1:1) to brightest clack & tassels area
  6. Drybrush light purple (1:2 purple + vampiric flesh) to edge highlight cloak & tassel
  7. Matt varnish (1:4)

Metallics

  1. Drybrush bronze thinly over metal armour
  2. Drybrush Kanoptec Alloy from above over shoulders and weapons (for golden highlight) + any regular metal parts (guns, tracks, etc)
  3. Wash nuln oil over weapons and any shadows

Basing

  1. Drybrush grey on base (1:4 tenebrous grey + white)
  2. Drybrush pure vampiric flesh over parts of base
  3. Black rims
