This is how I painted the main parts of my Word Bearers Chaos Space Marine power armour.

Red Plating

1. Basecoat the armour with Khorne Red .
2. Recess shade and paint the inside or the armor trim with a 1:1 mix of Khorne Red and Rhinox Hide .
3. Apply a chunky edge highlight of Khorne Red and Squig Orange mixed 1:1. I also painted inside of the armour panels running up to the trim, trying to emulate the 'Eavy Metal style of painting.
4. Edge highlight everything again, with a fine line of Squig Orange .
5. With a 1:1 mix of Squig Orange and Lugganath Orange , selectively highlight pronounced edge and corners.
6. Add in final dot highlights of pure Lugganath Orange to points and the centre of the previous stages selective highlights.

Silver Armour Trim

1. Paint all the trim with Vallejo Metal Color Duraluminum .
2. Apply two coats of Nuln Oil and Lahmian Medium mixed 1:1.
3. Selectively highlight pronounced edge and corners with Vallejo Metal Color Duraluminum .
4. Add spot highlights of Vallejo Metal Color White Aluminum to points and the centre of the previous stages selective highlights.
