Light Brown Feathers

  1. Basecoat with Baneblade Brown .
  2. Wash and shade with Rhinox Hide . I started by thinning down a small amount substantially, then washing it all over. Once this was dried, I carefully shaded deep recesses with some layer consistency paint.
  3. Highlight with 1:1 Baneblade Brown and Karak Stone .
  4. Selectively highlight with 1:1 Karak Stone and Ushabti Bone .
  5. Add a little White to the above paint, then finish with a few specular highlights.

White Feathers

  1. Basecoat with Corax White .
  2. Wash and shade with Baneblade Brown . I started by thinning down a small amount substantially, then washing it all over. Once this was dried, I carefully shaded deep recesses with some layer consistency paint.
  3. Finish with specular highlights of White on the tips.

Between the light brown and white feathers, I made a rough transition. To do this, I sketched out a rough area with 1:1 Corax White and Baneblade Brown initially. Then shaded and highlighted as I felt was appropriate, to create a blend. Feel free to go back and forth until you are happy.
