Simple and effective method for painting any flavor of Sylvaneth Revenants. Credit for this recipe goes to Juan Hidalgo Miniatures on youtube, I have minorly tweaked his recipe to my own tastes.
Tip: leave head/hair/bug wings/quiverbugs/shields off if you can during the painting process.
- Prime white and lightly layer with Corax White to even coverage and catch thin areas of primer
Tree Bark
- Apply Wyldwood (apply a healthy coat and make sure it pools slightly in the divots and knots in the bark)
- Lightly layer and edge highlight with Gorthor Brown
- Extreme highlight with Baneblade Brown
Soft Wood
- Glaze "soft wood" areas like behind knees/elbows, shoulders and hip joints with Skeleton Horde
- Highlight raised areas with Screaming Skull
Spirit Skin
- 1:1 mix of Aethermatic Blue & Contrast Medium
- Extremely light drybrush of Ulthuan Grey (use a very soft brush like a makeup brush)
Green Sprouts/Branches/Leaves
- Light to heavy drybrush fade with Elysian Green :
- Light layer of Elysian Green to solidify ends/leaves
- Controlled wash of Athonian Camoshade over Elysian Green blends and foliage
- Light drybrush with Elysian Green
- Lightly catch extreme edges of bark for added color variation
- Light drybrush with Ogryn Camo over end of branches and leaves
Bug Backpack
- 1:5 mix Kroxigor Scales to Lahmian Medium over wings
- Incubi Darkness over entire bug
- Use a very soft makeup brush and dry brush Gauss Blaster Green over wing membrane
- Carefully pick out veins in wings with Gauss Blaster Green
Optional Spirit Weapons/Armor
- Base coat with Wraithbone
- 1:1 mix of Aethermatic Blue to Contrast Medium
- Darken down blends/recesses with very thin Akhelian Green
- Edge highlight with Screaming Skull
