After a so-so batch of 5 girl heads I decided to try and make the magenta more uniform halfway through. The orange works but it takes quite a few layers. The magenta flowers were looking to "painterly" bc I was mixing magenta with white by eye. I tried to change that at the end by adding coats of pure magenta and the magenta ink. I need to have a look around for a pot-ready pale purple. Pot ready pail pink/magenta. And warmer undercoat (ivory of some sort)

  1. Undercoat Agrax Earthshade (bad - should have been grey seer or sthing)
  2. Orange flowers multiple coats of Clear Orange then finish with c.a. two coats of Clear Orange Salmon Rose 50/50
  3. This step was a mistep but here we go: multiple coats of Magenta mixed with unkown quantity of white. Led to different consistencies and "painterly" look
  4. Purple bits: Multiple coats of Heavy Violet the flowers were topped off with a mix of heavy and white. Given that it only takes one or two layers and there aren't many flowers this is *okay* although it would be good to have a paint from the pot for it.
  5. Topping off the magenta flowers. Add coats of pure Magenta (should have done that from the start)
  6. Eye flowers: "wash" (coat) with Art Spectrum magenta to fill in nooks and crannies and add some pigment everywhere
  7. Wetblend magenta with the applied ink where there are missed spots or protruding edges that haven't gotten enough paint
  8. Do the shoulder with a mix of magenta and white. Can also add Squid Pink which is actually the colour I'm after but it's too wet. This won't lead to painterly approach bc the surface area is so minimal. But again it would be good to have something straight from the pot for this.
