This recipe will follow the normal formatting for all items after the black armor. Black armor will be done as its own complete thing.

  1. Prime model in Chaos Black

Black Armor (Tale of Painters)

  1. Layer all parts of the armor and armor joints in Corvus Black
  2. Highlight the joints with Mechanicus Standard Grey
  3. Hightlight the armor with Dark Reaper then Thunderhawk Blue
  4. Wash all the armor in a 1:1 mix of Basilicanum Grey and Contrast Medium
  5. Add final highlights with Thunderhawk Blue or Russ Grey so it really pops

Black Armor (Juan Hidalgo)

  1. Touch up primer with Abaddon Black
  2. Heavy drybrush with Thunderhawk Blue
  3. Drybrush with Fenrisian Grey
  4. Focus drybrush with Fenrisian Grey on specific edges or raised areas
  5. Shade whole model with 1:1 mix of Black Templar and Contrast Medium . Might need to make a bit thinner or dilute as necessary
  6. Final highlight on sharpest edges with Fenrisian Grey

The Rest of the Model

Basecoats

  1. Paint the inner shoulder pad, eyes, and tabard in Corax White if using yellow weapon casings paint them with Corax White as well
  2. Paint the metal areas in Leadbelcher
  3. Paint the aquilla in Liberator Gold
  4. Paint the belts and holsters in Mournfang Brown
  5. Touch up cross on shoulder pads with Corvus Black
  6. Paint red areas (shoulder pad trim if close support, weapon casings etc) in Mephiston Red

Layers 1 of 2

  1. Layer tabard with Screaming Skull
  2. Layer yellow weapon casings with Averland Sunset

Shades

  1. Shade tabard with 1:1 mix of Skeleton Horde and Contrast Medium
  2. Shade red weapon casings with Flesh Tearers Red
  3. Shade yellow weapon casings with 1:1 mix of Iyanden Yellow and Lahmian Medium
  4. Shade eyes with Iyanden Yellow
  5. Shade belts and holsters with 1:1 Cygor Brown and Contrast Medium
  6. Shade metal details with Nuln Oil
  7. Shade aquilla with Aggaros Dunes

Layer 2

  1. Layer tabard with Screaming Skull leaving the recesses

Highlights

  1. Highlight belts with Skrag Brown
  2. Highlight red weapon casings (and shoulder trim if present) with Evil Sunz Scarlet and Wild Rider Red
  3. Highlight yellow weapon casings with Yriel Yellow and Dorn Yellow
  4. Highlight metal areas with Stormhost Silver

Optional Items

  1. Purity seals: Paint the paper with Ushabti Bone shade with Skeleton Horde and highlight Ushabti Bone . Paint the seal with Screamer Pink and highlight with Pink Horror . Use Abaddon Black and a thin brush to make fake writing on the paper
  2. Oath strips: Paint the strip in Corax White and then layer with either Flesh Tearers Red or Iyanden Yellow . Highlight with either Evil Sunz Scarlet or Yriel Yellow
  3. Metals: Paint the object in Retributor Armour Shade with Reikland Fleshshade and highlight with Liberator Gold
