Bases
- Prime the base with Chaos Black or any black primer.
- Drybrush the base with Mechanicus Standard Grey .
- Drybrush the base with Pale Grey , trying to go for the edges and cover a smaller area.
- Paint the rocks from the bases with Pale Grey .
- Drybrush the rocks with Ivory , Wraithbone or any other off-white paint.
- Add very thin washes of Guilliman Flesh and Dark Sea Blue to the ground, but don't cover the entire base. Just get some thinned paint on the brush and start touching different parts of the ground. You can add multiple layers or create small pools to add more variation.
- Add dry pigment Pigment FX "Natural Sienna" or "Burnt Sienna" to the recesses and the overall surface of the base, being delicate and trying not to pile up a lot of pigment in the same spot, tho accumulations of it could look great in the deepest recesses.
Burgundy Armor
- Cover the armor with Naggaroth Night , making sure none of the black primer is visible. We want our armor shadows to have a slight tint of this dark purple, not black.
- Thin down some Wine Red paint with water and start patting the armor from top to bottom using a small make-up sponge, applying less paint the lower you go. This will leave a nice gradient from wine red on the topmost surfaces to dark purple where light does not hit the model. You can do several passes until happy with the result, playing around with paint amount and surface coverage.
- Add a super thin layer of Agrax Earthshade applying it only on the recesses of the armor and the plates. Do not cover the entire pieces of armor with this shade.
- Do some edge lining using Bordeaux Red as our highlight paint, touching the side of your brush against the edges of the armor plates. This will make it pop out and make the edges look amazing.
