Black Skin
- Basecoat with 3:1 Gorthor Brown and Wild Rider Red .
- Add general shading with Doombull Brown .
- More carefully shade deep recesses with 1:1 Doombull Brown and Abaddon Black .
- Add some highlights with 2:1 mix of the basecoat and Ushabti Bone .
- Highlight more selectively. For this, increase the amount of Ushabti Bone in the mix, so there is more of it than the base colour. Roughly 1:2 now.
- Finish with a few very small highlights with pure Ushabti Bone .
For the scars, I applied thin lines of Kislev Flesh and then added a few dots of Pallid Wych Flesh for texture.
Grey Dreadlocks
- Basecoat with Corvus Black .
- Pick out the strands with a highlight of 1:1 Corvus Black and Dawnstone .
- Stipple highlights of Dawnstone down the length of the strands, going heavier where the light would hit more.
- Repeat using Administratum Grey , but highlight a smaller area within the :heavier" patches from earlier.
Green Cape
- Basecoat with Castellan Green .
- Shade with a thin 1:1 mix of Castellan Green and Abaddon Black .
- Apply generous highlights of Straken Green in scrathy lines on all exposed areas. I did a couple of passes of this to build up taxture and changed the direction of my lines to make it look natural.
- With a 2:1 mix of Straken Green and Screaming Skull repeat, but cover a slightly smaller area. This stage is a good opportunity to get a crispy edge highlight along hard edges too.
- Increase the amount of Screaming Skull in the mix, so it is now roughly 1:2 Straken Green and Screaming Skull . use this coulour to highlight even more selectively, plus apply a few smaller edge highlights of point and curves.
- Finish with very small/specular highlight with pure Screaming Skull .
Black Leather
- Basecoat with Black .
- Highlight with Dark Reaper .
- Highlight more selectively with a 2:1 mix of Dark Reaper and Deepkin Flesh .
- Increase the amount of Deepkin Flesh in the mix, so it is now roughly 1:2 Dark Reaper and Deepkin Flesh . Apply selevtige highlights.
- Finish with a few specular highlights of Deepkin Flesh where needed.
Grey Cloth
- Basecoat with Skavenblight Dinge .
- Shade recesses with Nuln Oil . I would receommend applying selectively, rather than an all over wash.
- Highlight with Stormvermin Fur .
- Gradually mix Ivory into your Stormvermin Fur and highlight the cloth. Do this in multiple passes until you are finishing them with specular highlights of almost pure Ivory .
Arm Wraps
- Basecoat with Steel Legion Drab .
- Highlight with Karak Stone .
- Add fine highlights of 1:1 Karak Stone and White .
- Finish with specular White highlights.
Dark Brown Leather
- Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
- Shade the recesses with some thin Abaddon Black .
- Add chunky highlights of Doombull Brown .
- Add fine highlights of Mournfang Brown .
- Selectively highlight with XV-88 .
- Mix some White into the XV-88 and finish with specular highlights.
Wood Handles
- Basecoat with 1:1 Dryad Bark & Mournfang Brown .
- Run some thin Dryad Bark into deep recesses.
- Apply chunky highlights with a 1:1 mix of the base colour & Karak Stone .
- Now apply fine highlights with Karak Stone .
- Finish with selective highlights of 1:1 Karak Stone & Wraithbone .
Stakes
- Basecoat with Mournfang Brown .
- Run some thin 1:1 Agrax Earthshade and Rhinox Hide into deep recesses.
- Apply chunky highlights with XV-88 .
- Now apply fine highlights with Balor Brown .
- Finish with selective highlights of Screaming Skull .
Pink/Purple Flame
- Basecoat with Genestealer Purple .
- Mix some Emperor's Children into the Genestealer Purple and start running it into recesses, pulling the pigment towards the blade. Repeat as necessary until you are coverrring a smaller area close to the blade with pure Emperor's Children .
- Mix 1:1 Emperor's Children and white and run a small amount into recesses closest to the source of the flame.
- Finish with small/specular highlights of White where it is almost touching ther blade.
- Overbrush with Xereus Purple , pulling your brush towards the tip of the flames. Glaze with this colour as you move away from the "heat" too.
- Repeat the above step, but use Naggaroth Night and cover a smaller area.
- Mix some Black into the naggaroth night and pick of the very tips of long toungues of flame.
- Now mix a litt;e White into the above paint, untill you have an interesting light grey. Then add a dot to the very tips.
My flames looked a little bland at this point, so I added glazes of Magenta Fluorescent in recesses at the mid-point and Doomfire Magenta closer to the tip.
Steel
- Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
- Wash with Nuln Oil . Adding glazes of Agrax Earthshade towards deep recesses, and where more interest is needed.
- Highlight with mix some Silver RLM01 Metallic into the Leadbelcher and highlight.
- Finish with some small Silver RLM01 Metallic highlights.
Gold
- Basecoat with Retributor Armour .
- Shade with glazes of Reikland Fleshshade . Enchance with small amount of Doombull Brown , where needed.
- Gradually mix Silver RLM01 Metallic into your Retributor Armour and highlight.
- Finish with specular Silver RLM01 Metallic highlights.
Cobblestone Base
- Basecoat with Dawnstone .
- Drybrush heaving with Administratum Grey .
- Glaze/wash with Agrax Earthshade .
- Lightly drybrush with 1:1 Karak Stone & White .
- Finish with small White highlights.
