How I painted this charming wrestler from "The Keep" Casino for Rumbleslam. These colours were a little out of my comfort zone, but I like how he turned out.
Yellow/Green Skin
- Basecoat with 1:1 Balor Brown and Ogryn Camo .
- Wash with Reikland Fleshshade .
- Re-ashtablish the base mix of 1:1 Balor Brown and Ogryn Camo where needed.
- Mix Flayed One Flesh into your basemix in a ratio of 1:2. use this colour to highlight the skin.
- Increase the amount of Flayed One Flesh in the mix, so it is now 2:1 with the basemix (roughly). Now selectively highlight the flesh.
- To make the flesh look a little warmer, I would recommend a glaze or two of Kislev Flesh at this point. I stufck to the nose lips and ears.
- Finish the skin with specular highlights of Screaming Skull .
Red Heart
- Basecoat with Mephiston Red .
- Glaze a 1:1 mix of Mephiston Red and Incubi Darkness into shaded areas.
- Bring out the volumes on the heart by glazing and layering Evil Sunz Scarlet towards the parts that would catch the most light.
- Repeat with Wild Rider Red coverring a smaller area.
- Mix the Wild Rider Red 1:1 with Tau Light Ochre and do the same, highlighting just a small amount.
- Finish with a glint of 1:1 Tau Light Ochre and White .
Purple/Pink Cloth
- Basecoat with Screamer Pink .
- Add general highlights to all raised details with 2:1 Screamer Pink and Blue Horror .
- Add chunky highlgihts with an equal parts mix of Screamer Pink and Blue Horror .
- Apply fine highlights of 1:2 Screamer Pink and Blue Horror .
- Selectively pick out corners, curves and folds with small highlights of pure Blue Horror .
- Finish with sparing dot highlights of a Blue Horror and White mix.
White Cloth
- Basecoat with 1:1 Celestra Grey and White .
- Add general shading with some thin Fenrisian Grey .
- Darken the shading in deep recesses with small amounts of Dark Reaper .
- Increase the amount of White in the base mix, and highlight raised /exposed details.
- Finish with small highlights of pure White .
Magenta Feather
- Basecoat with 1:1 Khorne Red and Screamer Pink .
- Shade with thin 1:2 Khorne Red and Incubi Darkness .
- Highlight raised details with 2:1 Wazdakka Red and Screamer Pink .
- Now bring out the volumes of the feather by more selectively highlighting with a mix of roughly 1:1 Wazdakka Red and Morghast Bone . Personally, I have found I get my best results by leaning slightly more towards the Morghast Bone to really bring out the edges.
- Selectively highlight curves and corners with 1:2 Wazdakka Red and Screaming Skull .
- Mix some White into the previous paint and pick out points where light would hit.
Gold Armour
- Basecoat with Retributor Armour .
- Add general shading with Gore-grunta Fur . For this stage, I like to add a small blob to my wet palette and glaze in the shading gently in layers.
- Shade the deepest parts selectively with Cygor Brown in small amounts.
- Now add some Silver RLM01 Metallic to your Retributor Armour in a ratio of roughly 1:2, and pick our general highlights on the armour.
- Apply fine highlights with an equal parts mix of Silver RLM01 Metallic and Retributor Armour .
- Selectively highlight with a 2:1 mix of Silver RLM01 Metallic and Retributor Armour .
- Finally, finish with small/specular highlights of pure Silver RLM01 Metallic .
Dark Brown Leather
- Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
- Highlight with Doombull Brown .
- More selectively highlight with XV-88 .
- Apply small/specular highlights with Screaming Skull .
