My first attempt at painting a mid war Afrika Korps infantry squad. The Germans transitioned from using green uniforms to sand uniforms during the war but units often used whatever they had, so I like a mix of both. The green on sand looks really sharp.

  1. Prime with Desert Yellow Make sure to do it in a box if it is windy
  2. Paint the base with Americana Espresso, its okay if it is watery
  3. Drybrush base with Desert Yellow
  4. Paint the ring around the base Mahogany Brown
  5. Drybrush with Desert Yellow mixed with a little bit of White Although you probably could use Desert Yellow Use just a little bit to hightlight the very tips
  6. Basecoat the jackets with Russian Uniform WWII
  7. Paint rifles, canteens, entrenching tools, with Mahogany Brown
  8. Paint bed rolls with either Russian Uniform WWII or Khaki depending on the color of the jacket.
  9. Paint the shoes a 50/50 mix of Black Grey and Mahogany Brown
  10. Paint rifle barrels and metal Uniform Grey
  11. Paint googles and straps on hats/helmets with Mahogany Brown
  12. Paint the gas mask canister Black Grey
  13. Paint the faces Barbarian Flesh
  14. Paint the satchel, rifle string, and straps German Camouflage Beige WWII
  15. Ink wash the sand colored uniform with Soft Tone
  16. Ink wash the rest of the model (Except the base) with Dark Tone Be careful to not apply too much especially on the face
  17. Highlight the green jackets with the original color you used, Russian Uniform WWII and then German Camouflage Beige WWII
  18. Highlight the sand uniforms with the original color Desert Yellow and then Desert Yellow . I might have also done a final highlight with 50/50 white/ :Vallejo/DesertYellow
  19. Highlight the gun and metal with Sky Grey as well as the shoes
  20. Lightly highlight any straps and the rifle, the canteen, and any pouches that are brown with US Field Drab
  21. Highlight the satchel and bedroll with US Field Drab
  22. Admire your handiwork
  23. Chip the helmets with a small sponge or foam using Black Grey
  24. Apply decals
