Gotta go fast! This recipe tries to focus on speed and being achievable while still looking nice. The focus is on creating contrast between the light pale skin, and darker leathers and other materials.

Prime the model in Grey Seer

Skin base

  1. Straight on the the Grey Seer primer, cover the entire model in a quite thin layer of Fyreslayer Flesh to establish a warm base.
  2. Drybrush the skin with a light tan color, such as Screaming Skull , or Wraithbone .
  3. This step is optional. Do some highlight sketches, focusing on the muscles on the upper part of the body of e.g. Flayed One Flesh (though this color is slightly darker than e.g. Screaming Skull , it will still be very visible.)

Tan tone

  1. For a tan tone, do a roughly 1:1 mix of Skeleton Horde and Contrast Medium .
  2. Highlight with Flayed One Flesh
  3. Final highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh .

Color variations

  1. Using the skin base above, there are many alternative tones do to experiment with. A good place to start is a 2:1:1 mix of Contrast Medium , Skeleton Horde , and X, where X is a tone of your choice, that could e.g. be Creed Camo , Gryph-hound Orange or Gryph-charger Grey . Of course, there are endless variations you could try. Rememeber to keep it quite desaturated though. And you can still highlight using the tan steps from above.

Quills

  1. Base in Skrag Brown
  2. Wash head quills with Wyldwood , for the body quills, using Agrax Earthshade , start about half way up, then pull down towards the base of the quill, making a gradient and making sure that it pools more at the base of the quill.
  3. The following steps only apply to the head quills. Drybrush with Skrag Brown
  4. Highlight using Deathclaw Brown
  5. Final highlight using Ushabti Bone

Eyes, mouth, scars, nails, and tongue

  1. Base scars and tongue in Tuskgor Fur
  2. Wash with Reikland Fleshshade
  3. Highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh
  4. Paint eyes with White Scar
  5. Paint lower part of beak using e.g. Gore-grunta Fur
  6. Paint nails using Wyldwood , do this after painting the base.

Wood

Do this at the same time as you highlight the quills, since they share a lot of colors.

  1. Base in Mournfang Brown
  2. Paint thin lines using Deathclaw Brown
  3. Paint more thin lines using Ushabti Bone
  4. Tie the colors together by washing everything in Agrax Earthshade

Dark leather

Mix up with other leather colors by using other contrast paints (such as Gore-grunta Fur ) and highlight colors!

  1. Base in Wyldwood
  2. Highlight using Baneblade Brown

Metals

  1. Base in a dark metal, such as Gunmetal Metallic or Leadbelcher .
  2. Wash everything with Ratling Grime
  3. Sponge on a bright metallic, such as Chrome Metallic , or Stormhost Silver .

Black (shoulder pad)

  1. Base in any black.
  2. Add lines and triangles of Wraithbone
  3. Sponge on a bright metallic, such as Chrome Metallic , or Stormhost Silver .

Bonus: Desert basing

  1. Base in XV-88
  2. Base rocks in Karak Stone
  3. Drybrush everything in Rakarth Flesh
  4. Drybrush rocks with Pallid Wych Flesh
  5. Add tufts, and e.g. rust pigment.
