  1. Undercoat with Wraithbone

Flesh

Skin

  1. You may have to go over the undercoat with another coat of Wraithbone
  2. Wash the skin with a 1:2 mix of Magos Purple and Contrast Medium . Be aware of pooling too heavily, but be liberal.
  3. Work your way around the with Screaming Skull , relayering over the skin but leaving the Contrast in the recesses. Watering down your paint more than usual will help to make an easier gradient from the shade.
  4. Highlight this with 1:1 Screaming Skull / Pallid Wych Flesh
  5. Add another mix to the current colour with Pallid Wych Flesh . Focus on hard muscles, edges and glazing where necessary to mimic where light falls on the skin
  6. Lastly do a 1:1 mix of on sharp edges with White Scar / Pallid Wych Flesh

Joints

  1. Wash with a 2:1 mix of Volupus Pink and Contrast Medium .
  2. Throw on a layer of Pink Horror to the higher up areas.
  3. Highlight these areas with a 1:1 mix of Pink Horror and Kislev Flesh . Thin this out to start building in a gradient.
  4. Add a further highlighting to all the joint areas now with more Kislev Flesh to the mix.
  5. Lastly, add Pallid Wych Flesh to the mix and do a last dot highlight to make the flesh look a bit shiny.

Weapon

  1. Start by painting in any areas that read as 'joints' using the same steps as the main skin areas.
  2. On the weapon itself, start with a layer of 1:2 Berserker Bloodshade / Lahmian Medium . This can be quite light so use sparingly.
  3. Now go 1:1 with Berserker Bloodshade / Lahmian Medium . Layer the edges of the weapon and in towards the center slightly.
  4. Last add just Berserker Bloodshade along the very edges of the weapon.

Carapace

  1. Mix 1:1 Abaddon Black / Naggaroth Night and block the carapace completely.
  2. Add more Naggaroth Night to the mix above, and move down each plate of the carapace, creating a black to deep purple gradient. Try to catch the raised areas for this.
  3. Apply watered down Xereus Purple along the edges of the carapace and feather along the bottom.
  4. Run Genestealer Purple along the purple edges and highlight the fethered parts.
  5. Highlight finally with Slaanesh Grey

Details

Teeth

  1. Paint the mouth area with Abaddon Black . No need to worry about going outside the area, as we can repaint where needed.
  2. Next basecoat each tooth with Rakarth Flesh
  3. Shade this with Agrax Earthshade
  4. Paint the front surfaces of the teeth with Ushabti Bone , leaving the shaded areas near the gums.
  5. Lightly pick out the tips and the front ridges with Screaming Skull
  6. Add a small amount of White Scar to the Screaming Skull and add a tiny dot on the sharpest tip. [On models with small teeth, this step isn't really needed]

Claws

  1. Paint the hooves and claws with Corvus Black
  2. Shade with the areas next with Nuln Oil
  3. Lastly, highlight the areas with Dawnstone

Eyes

  1. Start with Averland Sunset carefully across the whole eyeball.
  2. Next shade with Casandora Yellow
  3. Layer with Yriel Yellow
  4. Lastly, highlight at the edge with Flash Gitz Yellow

Tongue

  1. Start off and cover the tongue area in Xereus Purple
  2. Add the first Pink Horror to the mix. Make sure its thinned down. Leave the deepest recesses the base colour.
  3. Add another mix of Pink Horror and repeat.
  4. Add a third mix of Pink Horror and repeat again.
  5. Now apply just Pink Horror to the high parts of the tongue.
  6. Add small amounts of Ushabti Bone to the pink and start refining any textures that have built up
  7. Finish off with a coat of Ardcoat to give it a slimy look
