This collection of recipes is largely me playing about and refining potential methods of painting zombie skin. They are all essentially contrast paints over different colour basecoats, followed by highlights. I have painted Warlors games "Project Z" miniatures in this video, but this guide could easily be applied to Poxwalkers, Deadwalker Zombies or any other undead unit.

Dark Desiccated Skin

This method of painting skin comes from JuanHidalgo Miniatures "Deadwalker Zombies" video on Youtube.

  1. Basecoat with Grey Seer .
  2. Now wash the skin with 1:1 Basilicanum Grey and Guilliman Flesh .
  3. Glaze with Magos Purple thinned with Lahmian Medium . This is best applied to wounds, hands and areas that need a little more visual interest.
  4. Repeat the above step, but with Militarum Green instead. Use it sparingly and choose where you place it wisely.
  5. Highlight the skin with Rakarth Flesh , make these fairly general, and dont worry about highlighting anything.
  6. With Pallid Wych Flesh apply smaller, more selective highlights.
