Pale Green Skin

  1. Basecoat with 1:1 Fenrisian Grey and Karak Stone .
  2. Mix Baneblade Brown and Sons of Horus Green 1:1, then add some general shading to the skin, glazing it onto downward facing skin.
  3. With 2:1 Sons of Horus Green and Black , shade the skin more selectively. and leave a solid fine line between the fingers and where the skin meets other materials.
  4. Now is a good point to pick out the eye. I did this with Averland Sunset , before highlighting the middle with a mix of : Averland Sunset and Ice Yellow . Before finishing with a specular White highlight.
  5. Mix some of the original basecoat 1:1 with Ionrach Skin , then highlight the skin.
  6. Selectively highlight with pure Ionrach Skin .
  7. Add some White to the Ionrach Skin , and finish with some small highlights.

Full disclosure, I wasn't happy with how the eyeball looked whne I was done. To fix this I glazed the eyeball with Wild Rider Red and highlighted it again. I think this adds a lot.

Dark Purple Leather

  1. Basecoat with 2:1 Barak-Nar Burgundy and Knight-questor Flesh .
  2. Add some Black to the base colour, thin it and then add shading to recesses.
  3. Mix some of the base colour 1:1 with more Knight-questor Flesh , then highlight.
  4. Mix a portion of the above paint 1:1 with Ushabti Bone and highlight more selectively.
  5. Finally, add very small highlights with pure Ushabti Bone .

Green Skin

  1. Basecoat with 1:1 Karak Stone and Loren Forest .
  2. Mix Loren Forest and Vulkan Green 1:1, then add some general shading to the skin, glazing it onto downward facing skin.
  3. With Vulkan Green , shade the skin more selectively.
  4. Finish the shading with a 1:1 mix of Vulkan Green and Rhinox Hide to sperate fingers and where the skin meets other materials.
  5. Now is a good point to pick out the eye. I did this with Sotek Green , before highlighting the middle with a mix of Thousand Sons Blue and Gauss Blaster Green . Before finishing with a specular White highlight.
  6. Add general highlights to the skin with a mix of the base colour and Ionrach Skin , making your highlights chunkier on corners and exposed curves.
  7. Highlight more selectively with pure Ionrach Skin , within the previous stage.
  8. Finish with very small highlights of 1:1 Ionrach Skin skin and White .

Blue Cloth/Leather

  1. Basecoat with Stegadon Scale Green .
  2. With 1:1 Stegadon Scale Green and Black , shade the recesses and around the studs.
  3. Mix some 1:1 Stegadon Scale Green and Thunderhawk Blue , then use it to add highlights to the leather.
  4. Apply fine highlights of Thunderhawk Blue .
  5. Highlight selectively with 1:1 Thunderhawk Blue and Fenrisian Grey .
  6. Add some White to the above mix and finish with some small highlights.

Humanoid Skin

  1. Basecoat with 1:1 Cadian Fleshtone and Kislev Flesh .
  2. Add a small amount of Doombull Brown to you basecolour, roughly 1:2. Use this mix to add some general shading to the skin, glazing it onto downward facing skin.
  3. Increase the amount of Doombull Brown in the mix, so that it is now rougly 2:1. With this darker colour, shade the skin more selectively.
  4. Finish the shading by using thin lines of pure Doombull Brown to sperate fingers and where the skin meets other materials.
  5. Now is a good point to pick out the eye. I did this with Celestra Grey , before highlighting the middle with Ulthuan Grey and a specular White highlight.
  6. Add general highlights to the skin with a mix of the base colour and a small amount of Blue Horror (3:1 if you wanted a ratio), making your highlights chunkier on corners and exposed curves.
  7. Now mix the above paint 2:1 with White and selectively highlight.
  8. Increase the amount of White again, so it is a very bright "off-white" and finish with some small highlights.

Dark Brown Leather

  1. Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
  2. Add chunky highlights with Doombull Brown .
  3. Apply fine highlights with Mournfang Brown .
  4. Highlight selectively with XV-88 .
  5. Mix some White into the XV-88 and finish with very small highlights.

Teeth

  1. Pick out the teeth with 1:1 Rhinox Hide and XV-88 .
  2. Highlight the tooth with pure XV-88 , coverring everything but the recesses.
  3. Highlight with Ushabti Bone .
  4. Now highlight a little more selectively with Screaming Skull .
  5. Finish with a very small Wraithbone highlight.

Wood

  1. Basecoat with 1:1 Dryad Bark & Mournfang Brown .
  2. Run some thin Dryad Bark into recesses. Don't worry about doing this on woodgrain, just deep recesses and where the wood meats other marterial.
  3. Highlight with a 1:1 mix of the base colour & Karak Stone .
  4. Selectively highlight with Karak Stone .
  5. Optionally, selectively edge highlight with 2:1 Karak Stone & Wraithbone if you want to go the extra mile.

Steel

  1. Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
  2. If you are painting the chainmail, wash with Nuln Oil .
  3. On the blade, shade with glazes of Basilicanum Grey . Mixing a little Black in and being more selective with a second pass.
  4. Highlight with Ironbreaker .
  5. Finish with selective Silver RLM01 Metallic highlights.

Gold

  1. Basecoat with a mix of 3 parts Retributor Armour , 1 part Silver RLM01 Metallic and 1 part Gore-grunta Fur . You could just use pure Retributor Armour , but I prefer this mix.
  2. Shade with Gore-grunta Fur thinned with an equal amount of Lahmian Medium .
  3. Shade thie deepest recesses with 1:1 Doombull Brown and Black .
  4. Mix more Silver RLM01 Metallic into the base colour, then highlight the gold. I would recommend doing this a couple of times, highlighting a smaller area on the second pass.
  5. Finish with some small Silver RLM01 Metallic Highlight, where needed.
