Basecoats
- Undercoat the model with any old black I used 180 Signal Black but any brand is fine.
- Base coat the model with Dark Prussian Blue leaving black in the deepest recesses and highlight with 027 Petrol ( Caledor Sky or Regal Blue are good alternatives, but molotow goes through the airbrush soooo nicely)
- Paint any red areas (eg the fist) with Blanched Berry and highlight with Mephiston Red and Blood Thorn (John Blanche Vol. 4, not on here yet)
- Paint in the black areas like the under-suit and weapons and metal areas with Black Legion or any other good black.
- Pick out any metal with a silver (I used Silver RLM01 Metallic )
- Mix a dark blue/black oil wash and pinwash the armour, including redbits and clean up any over spill. Alternativly was the whole model with a dirty brown oil wash. I used some Ivory Black mixed with a bit of Phthalo Blue and a Ivory Black and a bit of Burnt Umber for the silver, alternativly you could use contrast paint/speed paint with water eg Black Legion or Grim Black for the armour and Ratling Grime for the metal.
- Hit with a gloss varnish here and apply decals and/or freehands
- Matte or Satin varnish to tie them to the model and unify the finish
- Go over the red edges with some more Blood Thorn with a tad of Ice Yellow ellow in to highlight and make them pop.
- Do the same to the blue, highlighting the armour edges with Dark Prussian Blue with some Ice Yellow mixed in
- Paint any effects like eye lenses, screens etc with Bold Titanium White or any other good white paint and use speedpaints/contrast/flourescents to complete.
- Matte or Satin Varnish
- re-highlight the metal with a silver and stain any areas you want gold with Sand Golem
