This tutorial will cover how to paint the flies, for Blightlords (skin, armor, weapons, etc) and bases, follow the Blightkings tutorial:

Airbrushing

This will cover basecoating and aibrushing of few parts at once, as it'll be hard to paint every part from start to finish without spraying over on other parts.

  1. Start with airbrushing Blighlords same as Blightkings by following steps 1-4 here: https://paintpad.app/recipes/17399-blightkings/edit
  2. Basecoat the flies with Pale Yellow .
  3. Basecoat wings with Greenish White .
  4. Airbrush the bodies of the flies from the bottom with heavily diluted Rhinox Hide . Do it multiple times to get the coverage, while keeping the mix thin for nice blending.
  5. Using similar dilution of Rhinox Hide , airbrush the wings close to the wing "bone/spine" parts, leaving Greenish White visible on the thinnest parts.
  6. Airbrush the wings with Malignant Green leaving thinnest parts of the wings as light as you can and focusing on the middle of the wing.

Body

  1. Boost the shadows even further with Rhinox Hide , apply thin layer consistency to the deepest recesses and feather it towards the midtones.
  2. Use heavy glaze consistency of Filthy Brown to tint the body of the fly yellow. It could be airbrushed, but tinting by brush will give you smoother, less "chalky" results.
  3. (optional) Add your preffered pattern on the back of the body with Rhinox Hide .

Any additional steps like green pimples, horns or bowels are painted in exactly the same way as with Blightlords: https://paintpad.app/recipes/17399-blightkings/edit

Head

  1. Tint the head with [AK Dragon Blood], then highlight raised elements with any choice of pink.
  2. Paint the eyes black, add white dot at the top, then paint half-rings of Russian Green at the bottom.

Wings

  1. Paint thin lines on each membrane, use Rhinox Hide towards the root of the wing and Greenish White towards the tip.
  2. Basecoat the spines with Rhinox Hide , shade with Russian Green towards the ends of each section
  3. Edge highlight spines and and spurs with German Yellow .

Saddle

  1. Similarly to wing's spines, shade about half of the saddle with Russian Green and edge highlight with German Yellow .
  2. Add some more thin lines with German Yellow to create some more variety.
  3. Paint each fur section with Blue Grey .

Legs

  1. As with Wings and Saddle - shade with Russian Green on the upper halves of each section.
  2. Highlight top two sections with German Yellow from the top, and Filthy Brown from the bottom.
  3. Highlight last ("blade") parts of the legs only with Filthy Brown .
