This is a semi-speedpaint for a clean blue Thokt Necron-based army, and my aim is a semi-balance between speed and looks. However, I’m looking to cut some steps as I get the hang of it. The preview photo and the inspired steps are from https://www.reddit.com/r/Necrontyr/comments/woxfkc/went_for_the_ice_white_theme_in_the_end_and_tired/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

  1. Assemble model, leaving torso and head separate, so 3 parts (optional). Use a mask layer to cover the parts to be glued together if you want to use Plastic Glue later (optional).
  2. Base coat all parts with Black or any black.
  3. Light spraypaint, airbrush, or brush all parts and armour with Corax White or equivalent including the chest recesses and the ankh in the chest, but try to avoid the spine and square side exhausts
  4. Airbrush or brush any white armour on each of the 3 parts with White Alchemy for a nice white glitter over the Corax White
  5. Paint the square exhausts with Leadbelcher or any silver (silver goes well over dark, so it’s good if managed to avoid spraying/brushing them too white in the previous step)
  6. Paint spine, joint, and gun with Black Legion for easy flow of paint; it’s faster but harder to control so take the time. Alternatively, use Abaddon Black for more control but it’ll take more time. Avoid the glowing parts like the rods on the gun if possible (no worries if painted because we’ll paint them white later)
  7. Paint the glowing rods on the gun, glowing cable on the head, and eyes if needed, carefully with a white like Dead White or White Scar . Corax White is also fine.
  8. For the chest recess glows, use Frostheart for the lighter areas (towards the centre of the chest and ON the ankh), then use Talassar Blue for the darker areas (towards the far edges of the chest recesses AND in all the eyes). For the recesses, brush it towards where you want it darkest like a glaze. If you go too heavy with the Talassar in the recesses, then just paint Corax White back where you messed up and start over.
  9. Similar to the chest recesses, use Frostheart for the majority of lighter areas in the glowing cable on the head and the rods in the gun (towards the centre of the rods/cable), then use Talassar Blue for the darker areas (towards the far edges of the rods/cable) so brush towards where you want it darkest like a glaze. If you go too heavy with the Talassar, then just put Corax White back where you messed up and start over.
  10. Paint body blacks like spines and joints with :GSW/BlueInference for a cool blue inference
  11. Paint non-glowing ribbed cables with Corvus Black
  12. Dry brush non-glowing ribbed cables with Dawnstone
  13. Use a pure white like Dead White or White Scar to dot-highlight the eyes, brightest areas, top edges, and highlight the centre edges of the ankh in the chest
  14. Edge highlight the silver parts (the square exhausts) with Stormhost Silver
  15. If parts are separate, glue the 3 parts together, preferably using a Gel Glue, or Plastic Glue if you had covered the plastic parts to be glued together with a mask layer in the beginning.
