A storm cast liberator done in tempest Lord colours. Used sketching to try and draw out highlights. First time doing it that way and enjoyed painting in that style. Purple base coat made it hard to bring Metallics out, and I think the NMM could do with some more work.
Basecoat:
- Black airbrush over whole model
- Deep Purple airbrushed with two drops of thinner
Base Layers
Plate Armour - Kantor Blue - Pauldrons etc - Spartan Bronze used this as base for metallic areas (edges of pauldrons, armour edges), intent was to NMM up from there
- Scale Mail - Starship Steel had to do couple of coats as purple/black undercoat soaked most up
Shoulder Pads - Vampire Fang as coating on future white areas (mainly shoulder cauldrons and chest pin)- Leather - Rhinox Hide over belts and straps (and couple of sneaky boot/armour straps)
Shading
- Drakenhof Nightshade over plate mail
- Agrax Earthshade over everything else
Layering from here using base coat as starer and then mixing in light coulours
Layers
- Plate Mail - Kantor Blue and :steadily adding Blue Green sketching out lighter areas (up to full Blue Green )
[I repeated the above for one of the hammers too, so it looked like the plate mail]
- Scale Mail - Starship Steel and steadily adding Silver Grey
- NMM Gold - Scrofulous Brown and steadily adding Deep Yellow , with final highlight of Ice Yellow (and I right at end I did Dead White in small areas where light would catch)
- Shoulder Pads - worked up to Dead White . I did use Dead White and Stormshield (1:1) for final bits but not 100% sure if it added anything)
