This is my take on the Night Stalkers warband colour scheme featured in the Chaos Space Marines codex from 4th Ed. 40k.
The main colours are a pink tinted grey, with gold and green accents.
General Information:
My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.
I don't own an airbrush so the recipe will mainly consist of Games Workshop spray cans and brush on paints.
Priming:
I find the metallic sprays from GW tend to be a little on the transparent side, so an initial undercoat of grey helps.
- Prime the model with a light coat of Mechanicus Standard Grey
- Prime over that with Retributor Armour
Gold (Armour Trim)
I generally start with the armour trim so that any time I get paint on another piece its easy to cover later.
- Drybrush over the model with Retributor Armour to even out the colour
- Shade the recesses and around any rivets with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight fine points and any sharp edges with Stormhost Silver
Pink-grey (Armour Panels)
- Base the areas with Rakarth Flesh
- Shade along the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Add a thin coat of Carroburg Crimson into the recesses
- Add a thin highlight of Pallid Wych Flesh along the edges and around the inside of the armour trim allowing the Carroburg Crimson to show through
Black (Details - Armour Ribbing, Tubes)
- Base with Abaddon Black
- Highlight the edges with Eshin Grey
- Add a fine highlight of Dawnstone
Green (Details - Cloth, Weapon Wraps, Tabard)
- Base the area with Incubi Darkness
- Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
- Highlight the edges with Kabalite Green
- Fine highlight of Sybarite Green to points and sharp edges
Silver (Details - Weapons)
- Base with Leadbelcher
- Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
- Highlight the edges and sharp points with Stormhost Silver
Brown (Details - Leather Pouches)
- Base the areas with Rhinox Hide
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Roughly highlight the edges with Skrag Brown
- Add a fine highlight of Ushabti Bone along the edges allowing for some Skrag Brown to show through
Beige (Details - Horns, Teeth)
- Base with Rakarth Flesh
- Layer the lower half with Skrag Brown
- Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the upper half with lines of Rakarth Flesh
- Add fine points of Pallid Wych Flesh
Red (Details - Lenses)
- Base with Mephiston Red
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the middle with Wild Rider Red
- Add fine points of Fire Dragon Bright
