This is my take on the Corpsemakers Nurgle-aligned warband featured in the Death Guard codex for 8th Ed. 40k.
The main colours are tan and a oxidized copper.
General Information:
My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.
I don't own an airbrush, so the recipe will mainly consist of brush on paints.
Priming:
Prime the model with Wraithbone
Copper (Armour Trim):
- I generally start with the armour trim so that any time I get paint on another piece its easy to cover later.
- Base the trim with Balthasar Gold
- Shade the recesses and around rivets with Agrax Earthshade
- Add an oxide layer selectively with thinned Incubi Darkness
- Add a small layer of Kabalite Green allowing the Incubi Darkness to show through
- Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver
Tan (Armour Panels):
- Base with Ushabti Bone
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the edges with Screaming Skull
Black (Details - Armour Ribbing, Weapon Casing, Cables):
- Base with Abaddon Black
- Highlight the edges with Eshin Grey
- Add a fine highlight with Dawnstone
Silver (Details - Weapons, Blades):
For grenades, replace Nuln Oil with Athonian Camoshade
- Base with Leadbelcher
- Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
- Add a rust effect with thinned Skrag Brown
- Highlight sharp edges and fine points with Stormhost Silver
Dark Pink (Details - Wraps, Cloth, Tassels):
- Base with Screamer Pink
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the edges with Pink Horror
- Highlight fine points with Kislev Flesh
Brown (Details - Leather Pouches):
- Base with Rhinox Hide
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Roughly highlight the edges with Skrag Brown
- Add a finer highlight of Ushabti Bone allowing for some Skrag Brown to show through
Red (Details - Lenses):
- Base with Mephiston Red
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Layer the middle with Wild Rider Red
- Add a fine point of Fire Dragon Bright
Beige (Details - Horns):
- Base with Rakarth Flesh
- Layer the upper half with Skrag Brown
- Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the lower half with Rakarth Flesh
- Highlight fine points with Pallid Wych Flesh
