This is my take on the paint scheme of the Red Corsairs warband.
The main colours are red, black, and brass.
General Information:
My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.
I don't own an airbrush, so the recipe will mainly consist of brush on paints.
Priming:
- Prime the model lightly with Mechanicus Standard Grey
Red (Armour Panels):
- Base with Khorne Red
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the edges and add scratches with Wazdakka Red
- Add fine points and lines with Cadian Fleshtone
Black (Armour Trim):
- Base with Abaddon Black
- Highlight the edges and add scratches with Eshin Grey
- Add fine points and lines with Dawnstone
Brass (Armour Trim - Thighs, Arms, Helmets):
- Base with Balthasar Gold
- Shade the recesses and around any rivets with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight fine points and edges with Stormhost Silver
Silver (Details - Gun Barrels, Vents, Chains):
- Base with Leadbelcher
- Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
- Add a rust effect with thinned Skrag Brown
- Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver
Green (Details - Cloth, Wraps, Lenses):
- Base with Incubi Darkness
- Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
- Add highlights and small scratches with Kabalite Green
- Highlight fine points and edges with Sybarite Green
- For the eyes, add a point of Sybarite Green mixed with White Scar
Blue (Details - Power cables):
- Base with Sotek Green
- Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
- Add sections of lines with Temple Guard Blue
- Highlight with Baharroth Blue
- Add a fine highlight of Baharroth Blue mixed with White Scar
Beige (Details - Horns, Teeth):
- Base with Rakarth Flesh
- Layer the portion closest to the base with Skrag Brown
- Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the point with lines of Rakarth Flesh running down the length
- Add small lines of Pallid Wych Flesh near the point
Brown (Details - Fur):
- Base with Rhinox Hide
- Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight lines with Skrag Brown
- Highlight fine points with Ushabti Bone
