A selection of Ork skin tones that I wanted to try. These were mostly initially pulled from 'eavy-archive.com', but then tweaked and changed to my tastes. Most of the credit should go to the folk there.

Ghazghkull Skin

  1. Basecoat with a mix of 2:1 Elysian Green and Waaagh! Flesh
  2. Thin down some Waaagh! Flesh and add some general shading to the recesses.
  3. Shade deep recesses with small amounts of thin 2:1 Caliban Green and Rhinox Hide .
  4. With Elysian Green , begin adding pretty chunky highlights to the skin .
  5. With Skarsnik Green and Averland Sunset , mixed 4:1, apply smaller, finer highlights.
  6. Selectively highlight points that would get hit by light with small amounts of Krieg Khaki .
  7. Mix your Krieg Khaki 1:1 with Corax White and add specular highlights to particularly pointed areas.

Optionally, finish off with a glaze of Kislev Flesh over the bottom lip, knuckles, elbows, ear tips and any areas that you want to add a bit more life. If they need a final specular highlight, I would recommend Screaming Skull .

Beast Snaggas

  1. Basecoat with a 1:1 mix of Skarsnik Green and Averland Sunset .
  2. Add a little Warp Lightning to the base mix and add some general shading to the recesses.
  3. Shade deep recesses with small amounts of thin Caliban Green .
  4. With an equal parts mix of Skarsnik Green , Averland Sunset and Zandri Dust , begin highlighting the skin.
  5. Mix in some Screaming Skull to the above mix and selectively highlight points.
  6. Finally add very small highlights of pure Screaming Skull to prominent points,
  7. Glaze Kislev Flesh over knuckles, ears, elbows and lips. The re-add specular highlights of Screaming Skull , if needed.
  8. Add warmth to lips and raw looking areas with another glaze of Carroburg Crimson .

40K Orks

  1. Basecoat with a mix of Averland Sunset and Skarsnik Green . I make the ratio about 1:1, but add a little more Skarsnik Green , so it reads as green and not yellow.
  2. Shade recesses with Biel-Tan Green . Use a combination of glazing and traditional recess shading.
  3. Run small amounts of Coelia Greenshade into deep recesses with a fine brush. Mix in a little Contrast Medium if you want to make it easier to handle.
  4. Add general highlights to the skin with Ogryn Camo .
  5. How apply fine highlights with Krieg Khaki .
  6. Glaze Kislev Flesh over ear tips, lips, the nose, knuckles and elbows.
  7. Add final selective and specular highlights of 1:1 Screaming Skull and White .

Ironjaws

  1. Basecoat with Elysian Green .
  2. Build up layers with Elysian Green and Ogryn Camo , mixed 1:1. Covering a smaller area.
  3. Repeat the above step, covering even less area with pure Ogryn Camo .
  4. Make a mix of 3 parts Athonian Camoshade , 1 part Drakenhof Nightshade and 1 part Biel-Tan Green . Use this mix to glaze over the skin, pulling pigment towards the recesses.
  5. Add a small amount of Incubi Darkness to the above mix and shade only the deepest recesses.
  6. With a 1:3 mix of Ogryn Camo and Screaming Skull , selectively highlight the skin.
  7. Add very small/specular highlights with Screaming Skull .
  8. Glaze Kislev Flesh over knuckles, ears, elbows and lips. The re-add specular highlights of Screaming Skull , if needed.

Kruleboyz 1

  1. Basecoat skin with Ogryn Camo and Elysian Green , mixed 1:1.
  2. General recess shade with thin Deathworld Forest .
  3. Deep recess shade using thin Vulkan Green .
  4. With an equal parts mix of Ogryn Camo , Krieg Khaki and Ushabti Bone , selectively highlight the skin again.
  5. Now increase the amount of Ushabti Bone in the mix, so it is roughly 50% and selectively highlight the skin again.

Kruleboyz 2

  1. Basecoat skin with Ogryn Camo .
  2. General recess shade with a 1:1 thin mix of Deathworld Forest and Loren Forest .
  3. Deep recess shade using a thin 1:1 mix of Caliban Green and Mournfang Brown .
  4. With Krieg Khaki , add highlights to raised areas.
  5. Now with 1 part Ogryn Camo and 2 parts Krieg Khaki , selectively highlight the skin again.
  6. Mix Pallid Wych Flesh 1:1 with your Krieg Khaki and selectively highlight the areas from the step above.
  7. Finally, finish off with very small/specular highlights of Pallid Wych Flesh .

Kruleboyz 3

  1. Basecoat skin with a 2:1 mix of Ogryn Camo and Krieg Khaki .
  2. General recess shade with a 1:1 thin mix of Death Korps Drab and Nurgling Green .
  3. Deep recess shade using thin Death Korps Drab .
  4. With 1:2 Ogryn Camo and Krieg Khaki , highlight the skin.
  5. With an equal parts mix of Ogryn Camo , Krieg Khaki and Ionrach Skin , add smaller highlights to the flesh.
  6. Now, with pure Ionrach Skin selectively highlight the skin again.

Kruleboyz 4

  1. Basecoat skin with Nurgling Green .
  2. General recess shade with a 1:1 thin mix of Ogryn Camo and Sons of Horus Green .
  3. Deep recess shade using thin Dark Reaper and Loren Forest , mixed 1:1.
  4. Mix a little Wraithbone and Grey Seer , then take the same mount of Nurgling Green green, so it is 50% of the mix. Use this mix to add highlights to the flesh.
  5. Now increase the amount of Wraithbone and :Citadel/GreySeer in the mix, so all paints have roughly the same amount. Then selectively highlight the skin again.

All of these Kruleboyz recipes can be finished off by blending Ushabti Bone into ears, knuckles, knees, elbows etc. Then adding thin glazes of Khorne Red and/or Carroburg Crimson / The Fang mixed 2:1.

For the lips, glaze with Vulkan Green and add Deepkin Flesh to highlight.
