I started by priming the miniature with Chaos Black . Since the miniature is going to be mostly black, this seemed like the natural choice.

Brown Fur

  1. Basecoat with a 1:1 mix of Rhinox Hide and Abaddon Black .
  2. With Rhinox Hide start building up the volumes with Rhinox Hide . Highlight in thin lines, coverring most of the area.
  3. Repeat the step above with a 1:1 mix of Rhinox Hide and Mournfang Brown , but cover a smaller area.
  4. Getting smaller again, repeat the process with a whole series of Mournfang Brown lines. T
  5. Mix a small amount of Vallejo Model Color Ivory or Wraithbone into your Mournfang Brown and highlight very small areas where the light would hit.
  6. With a greater amount of Ivory or Wraithbone mixed into your Mournfang Brown . At this stage my highlights are just a few disparate dots of paint in a very small area.
  7. On ear tips of areas that need a little punch, feel free to finish of with a specular highlight of Ivory or Wraithbone .

Black Armour

  1. Basecoat with Abaddon Black .
  2. Add chunky edge highlights with a 1:1 mix of Abaddon Black and Kantor Blue .
  3. Do another pass, this time with fine edge highlights of Thunderhawk Blue .
  4. Selectively highlight the armour with Fenrisian Grey .
  5. Add points of shine with dot/very small highlights of Blue Horror .

Brown Leather Pouches

  1. Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
  2. Recess shade with Nuln Oil .
  3. Chunky highlights of Mournfang Brown .
  4. Fine highlights of Steel Legion Drab .
  5. Selective highlights of Karak Stone .
  6. Mix a little White Scar into your Karak Stone and add specular highlights, where needed.

Steel

  1. Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
  2. Wash with Nuln Oil .
  3. Pick out some details with Ironbreaker .
  4. Add fine highlights with Vallejo Model Air Silver RLM01 Metallic .
  5. In deep recesses and areas that need some additional visual interest, glaze in some Agrax Earthshade and/or Seraphim Sepia .

Bronze

  1. Basecoat with Runelord Brass .
  2. Wash with Darkoath Flesh thinned with an equal amount of Contrast Medium .
  3. Re-establish Runelord Brass in areas you want to be brighter.
  4. Add selective fine highlights of Vallejo Model Air Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Rich Gold Chest

  1. Basecoat with Retributor Armour .
  2. Shade the recesses, with Gore-grunta Fur , thin with water if needed.
  3. If any areas need additional shading, repeat with Cygor Brown .
  4. Add fine highlights with Liberator Gold .
  5. Finish off with a few small highlights of Vallejo Model Air Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Pale Leather Pouches

  1. Basecoat with a 1:1 mix of Wraithbone and Karak Stone .
  2. Wash with Agrax Earthshade , thinned with an equal amount of Contrast Medium .
  3. Edge highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh .
