Base Paints
- Spray the model with Chaos Black
- Using a 1:1 mix of Mephiston Red and water, stipple all the red of the model. Do the same with a 1:1 mix with water and Evil Sunz Scarlet on the areas that catch the light, and finish it up with the same mix of water and Wild Rider Red on the edges. Be careful with the Fire Dragon because it's more orange than red.
- Now follow up by doing all the metal. Use Leadbelcher since it's a bit bright and you will be shading it all later.
- Paint all the Black parts next with some Abaddon Black .
- The Blue of the Armor in the middle can be done with Kantor Blue . maybe stipple it afterwards in the raised area with a lighter version of it.
- Next up is the gold, use Retributor Armour on all the gold parts.
- The Scrolls can be done with Screaming Skull .
- Meanwhile, if you want any iconography - add the Decals now before you add the wash. Cut the decals, put them on the model, use some varnish to let it dry properly, done.
- Finally, paint the Wings of the Blood Angels Symbols with Corax White
The Shading
- With all the base stuff out of the way and cleaned up, it's time to slap the contrast shading on there. For that, create a mix of 1 part Contrast Medium and 1 part Guilliman Flesh .
- Literally bathe the model in this. Make sure it doesn't pool in an ugly fashion. Now just wait for it all to try before starting to work on the details.
