Painting Guide for the warband Hexbane's Hunters.
The colour schemes are loosely based on the official paint scheme from Games Workshop.
I have used Vallejo alternatives to Citadel in places and both will be mentioned in the paint list.
Beginning/Shared Steps
- Assemble all the miniatures, as per the instructions. If possible, leave the miniatures detached from their bases.
- Undercoat all miniatures with a black spray/primer, like Chaos Black .
- Paint the grey slabs on the bases with a dark grey, such as Mechanicus Standard Grey .
- Drybrush all the miniatures and the base decoration (i.e. temple ruins, bones) with progressively lighter greys, from Mechanicus Standard Grey , to Dawnstone to Administratum Grey .
- Paint the bones & skulls on the bases with Ushabti Bone , then shade with watered down Skeleton Horde (or similar, such as Bag of Bones ).
- Wash the grey slabs with a 1:1 mix of Ratling Grime (or equivalent, such as Greasy Black ) and Contrast Medium or water.
- After the previous step is dry, thin Garaghak's Sewer (or Battledress Brown ) and run this into the cracks between the slabs, any exposed muddy areas and also any of the molded puddle effects.
Haskel Hexbane
- Paint Hexbane's cloak and hat with a grey black paint or speedpaint. I used Black Lotus .

Finishing up
- Paint small amounts of varnish, such as Varnish Satin , onto the puddles & wet areas to improve the effect.
