A unified scheme for Nightstalkers. Perfect for quickly filling up ranks in massive games like Kings of War.
Prime the minis with Corax White
The basic scheme
- Apply a undershade with an airbrush of Nihilakh Oxide and a zenithal highlight of White (I actually use Daler Rowney White Ink but is not in the database).
- Bath the whole skin with Drakenhof Nightshade . I'm not particularly careful with this and I hit parts that later are cloth or tentacle. Since the next step is done with Contrast paints I avoid parts that I want to be lighter, like the hats or the uppermost tentacles.
- Apply Wyldwood to any brown area or anything that is going to have a brown shadow, like the pumpkins.
- Apply Shyish Purple to the tentacles.
- Applly Black Templar to hairy areas like the groin area of the Butchers
- Apply Bone White to the teeth, claws and wraps
- Paint the tongues Flat Red .
- Drybrush the hats and hoodies with Flat Earth and the pumpkins with Wild Rider Red .
- Paint the metal weapons with Leadbelcher and washit with Agrax Earthshade .
With this, rank and file troops are done. I base them in a 3mm MDF base that I cut with a saw
Extra details
This steps are for more important or less common units like heroes, monsters or large infantry.
- Wash the mouth area with Nuln Oil .
- Apply the same Agrax Earthshade wash to the claws and wraps that is used in the last step of the basic scheme.
- Highlight the teeth, claws and wraps with Ivory and the tongue with a 1:1 mix of Flat Red and Pink .
- Drybrush the tentacles with a 2:1 mix of Flat Red and Flat Blue .
- Highlight the skin with Pale Blue . Try to glaze it instead of layering it but it does not need to be perfect.
- Weather the weapons with Orange Brown and lightly drybrush the uppermost edges with Stormhost Silver .
- Drybrush the hairy areas with a 3:2 mix of Flat Green and Black .
I make this recipes for the foldr that lives far in the future. He is a very forgetful person.
