Although I have used Sergeant Ripper Jackson for this guide, the paint used here should work great for the standard troops.

Skin

  1. Basecoat with 1:3 Screamer Pink and Cadian Fleshtone .
  2. Highlight with Cadian Fleshtone . At this point you should be covering everything but recessed/shaded areas.
  3. Highlight again, covering a smaller area, using Kislev Flesh .
  4. Apply fine highlights of 1:1 Kislev Flesh and Flayed One Flesh .
  5. Selectively highlight with Flayed One Flesh .
  6. Mix a little White into the Flayed One Flesh , then apply small/specular highlights.

Dark Green Cloth

  1. Basecoat with Castellan Green .
  2. Shade recesses with thin Caliban Green .
  3. Apply highlights of Deathworld Forest .
  4. Now highlight again, with fine highlights of Death Guard Green .
  5. Selectively highlight with Krieg Khaki .
  6. Mix a little White into your Krieg Khaki and place specular highlights on corners.

I used this same recipe for the camo cloth, then added stripes with Morghast Bone and Black . If you feel the need, add a little White to the Morghast Bone and Deepkin Flesh to the Black , for additional highlights.

Green Armour Panel

  1. Basecoat with Castellan Green .
  2. Shade with some thinned 1:1 Castellan Green and Rhinox Hide .
  3. Add chunky highlights with a 2:1 mix of Loren Forest and Deathworld Forest .
  4. Apply fine edge highlights with pure Straken Green .
  5. Using Krieg Khaki , selectively highlight corners and curves.
  6. If you want to really accentuate corners mix your Krieg Khaki with an equal amount of White .

Light Green Cloth

  1. Basecoat with Deepkin Flesh .
  2. Mix a little Stormvermin Fur into your Deepkin Flesh , then glaze some shading into recesses.
  3. Enhance shading in the deepest recesses with small amounts of Stormvermin Fur .
  4. Mix White 1:1 with Deepkin Flesh and add highlights to upward facing and raised cloth.
  5. Finish with more selective White highlights.

Red Bandanna

  1. Basecoat with an equal parts mix of Khorne Red , Wazdakka Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet .
  2. Add soft shading to recesses with thinned Khorne Red .
  3. Shade the deepest folds with 1:1 Khorne Red and Abaddon Black .
  4. Add general highlighting with Evil Sunz Scarlet .
  5. Apply finer highlights with an equal parts mix of :Citadel/EvilSunzScarlet and Ungor Flesh .
  6. Increase the amount of Ungor Flesh in the above mix and selectively highlight.
  7. Finish with small highlights of Ungor Flesh .

Dark Brown Leather

  1. Finish with small highlights of Ungor Flesh .
  2. Glaze most of the leather with thinned Mournfang Brown . Use quite a small brush and drag towards edges in rough lines. This should create some extra texture.
  3. Add a chunky edge highlight of Skrag Brown to all edges.
  4. Highlight everything again, this time with a fine line of Skrag Brown and Ushabti Bone mixed 1:1. This is a good mix to throw in occasional fine lines as scratches too.
  5. With pure Ushabti Bone , selectively highlight corners and exposed edges of the leather. Put a dot of this colour where the additional scratched above meet edges too.
  6. Add a little pure white (like Dead White ) to your Ushabti Bone and add dot highlights to corners.

Black Weapon Casing

  1. Basecoat with Black .
  2. Chunky highlights with Dark Reaper .
  3. Fine edge highlights with Thunderhawk Blue .
  4. Selectively highlight with Fenrisian Grey .
  5. Finish with specular highlights of Blue Horror .

Black Leather

  1. Basecoat with Black .
  2. Chunky Highlights of Skavenblight Dinge .
  3. Fine highlights of 1:1 Skavenblight Dinge and Fenrisian Grey .
  4. Selective highlights of Fenrisian Grey .
  5. Mix a little White Scar into your Fenrisian Grey and add a few specular highlights, where light would really hit.

Scroll

  1. Basecoat with Rakarth Flesh .
  2. Glaze with Agrax Earthshade , towards recesses.
  3. Add chunky, scratchy highlights with 1:1 Rakarth Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh .
  4. Edge highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh .
  5. Finish with small White highlights.
  6. For the text, would recommend using a mix of Black and Rhinox Hide .

Steel

  1. Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
  2. Wash with Nuln Oil .
  3. If you want to make the metal look a little weathered, I would recommend glazing some Agrax Earthshade over harder to get to places, prior to highlighting.
  4. Add highlights with Ironbreaker .
  5. Now selectively highlight with Vallejo Model Air Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Gold Details

  1. Basecoat with Retributor Armour , lightened with Silver RLM01 Metallic , until you are happy with the colour.
  2. Wash with Reikland Fleshshade .
  3. Re-establish the base colour, where needed, then increase the amount of Silver RLM01 Metallic in the mix and edge highlight.
  4. Finish with selective/specular highlights of pure Silver RLM01 Metallic . highlights
