An alternative take on the Storm Lords.
The main colours are red, white, black, and silver.
General Information:
My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.
I don't own an airbrush, so the recipe will mainly consist of brush on paints.
Left and Right are based on the model's perspective.
Priming:
I find the metallic sprays from GW tend to be a little on the transparent side, so an initial undercoat of black helps.
Because the scheme has an all black backpack, I primed it separately from the main model using a paperclip glued to where the pack attaches to the model.
- Prime the model and the backpack with Chaos Black
- Prime over the body with Leadbelcher
Silver (Armour Trim):
I generally start with the armour trim so that any time I get paint on another piece its easy to cover later.
For grenades, replace Nuln Oil with Athonian Camoshade
- Drybrush over the body with Leadbelcher to even out the colour
- Shade the recesses and around any rivets with Nuln Oil
- Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver
- Add a rust effect using thinned Skrag Brown
Red (Armour Panels - Right Side):
- Base with Mephiston Red
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the edges with Evil Sunz Scarlet
- Add a fine highlight of Wild Rider Red
- Highlight fine points with Fire Dragon Bright
White (Armour Panels - Left Side):
- Base with Celestra Grey
- Layer the middle with Ulthuan Grey
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight fine points and sharp edges with White Scar
Tan (Details - Cloth, Wraps):
- Base with Ushabti Bone
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Highlight the edges with Screaming Skull
Pink (Details - Lenses, Eyes):
- Base with Screamer Pink
- Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
- Layer the middle with Pink Horror
- Add fine points of Fulgrim Pink
Brown (Details - Leather Pouches):
