This is a homebrew scheme, mixing Hakanor's Reavers with Khorne influences.

The main colours are red, gold, and black with a lava effect.

General Information:

My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.

I don't own an airbrush, so the recipe will mainly consist of brush on paints.

Priming:

I find the metallic sprays from GW tend to be a little on the transparent side, so an initial undercoat of grey helps.

  1. Prime the model lightly with Mechanicus Standard Grey
  2. Prime over that with Retributor Armour

Gold (Armour Trim):

I generally start with the armour trim so that any time I get paint on another piece its easy to cover later.

  1. Lightly drybrush over the model with Retributor Armour to even out the colour.
  2. Shade the recesses and around any rivets with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Highlight fine points with Stormhost Silver

Red (Armour Panels - Upper Half):

  1. Base with Khorne Red
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Highlight the edges with Wazdakka Red
  4. Add a fine highlight of Cadian Fleshtone

Black (Armour Panels - Lower Half):

  1. Base with Abaddon Black
  2. Highlight the edges with Eshin Grey
  3. Add fine points with Dawnstone

Green (Details - Cloth, Wraps):

  1. Base with Incubi Darkness
  2. Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
  3. Add deeper shadows with thinned Abaddon Black
  4. Roughly highlight the edges with Kabalite Green
  5. Add fine points of Sybarite Green

Brown (Details - Leather Pouches):

  1. Base with Rhinox Hide
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Roughly highlight the edges with Skrag Brown
  4. Add a fine highlight with Ushabti Bone

Silver (Details - Weapons, Grenades):

  1. For grenades, replace Nuln Oil with Athonian Camoshade
  2. Base with Leadbelcher
  3. Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
  4. Highlight the edges with Stormhost Silver

Beige (Details - Teeth, Bones):

  1. Base with Rakarth Flesh
  2. Layer the upper portion with Skrag Brown
  3. Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
  4. Highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh
  5. Add tips with Abaddon Black

Blue (Details - Cables, Lenses):

  1. Base with Sotek Green
  2. Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
  3. Layer the middle with Temple Guard Blue
  4. Highlight the middle with Baharroth Blue

Lava Effect:

On the legs, I gradually lightened the colour of the lava towards the feet.

  1. Paint on cracked lines of Khorne Red
  2. Layer the middle with Wild Rider Red
  3. Add a layer of Fire Dragon Bright
  4. Add a small amount of Yriel Yellow
  5. Add points with Dorn Yellow

For the melee weapon start with Dorn Yellow and go in reverse, gradually darkening to Khorne Red

Add a small amount of Abaddon Black to the sharpest edges
