How I paint my crypt flayers/haunters

1. Undercoat Zandri Dust
2. Base coat Gorthor Brown everywhere(if you have airbrush skip step 1 and just undercoat Gorthor Brown )
3. Dry brush chest/face/outerarms/inner thighs/top of legs with Ionrach Skin avoid the wings
4. stipple Ionrach Skin where you cant reach without hitting other parts with a brush (mostly the back, still avoiding wings)
5. Athonian Camoshade all over dont touch the wings
6. Drybrush Deepkin Flesh over where you hit with the Ionrach Skin and wash, then do some light highlighting on face and most visible elements
7. Reikland Fleshshade thin wash over skin
8. Ionrach Skin just outside the muscles to add some more defition and on the edges of the Deepkin Flesh highlights
9. Cover all wing membranes(avoid all the things that run down in between the membranes and the arms/claws) in Grey Seer (or a similiar grey that works with contrast paints). if you can hit any of the fur too but you may end up having to clean it up when doing the wings after
10. Darkoath Flesh over all the grey you just painted on the membranes
11. Berserker Bloodshade all over the Darkoath Flesh
12. Contrast Medium / Shyish Purple 3:1 mix and just get the the tops of the membranes. Try to apply then wash off brush and spread out at the edges for better blending. Leaving the further down membranes lighter. I try to get to the middle of the membrane and then start feathering out
13. Nuln Oil over all of the parts still left with the brown
14. drybrush Gorthor Brown over the body where you added Nuln Oil (avoid the wings to avoid getting the brown onto the membranes)to add some defintion. don't go too heavy though
15. Nuln Oil a 2nd layer applied to the bits between the membranes on the wings
16. Black Templar over all the claws
17. Screaming Skull over the teeth
18. Carroburg Crimson into the mouth and a little on the teeth to make it look like blood
19. Corvus Black to the eyes
20. Gore-grunta Fur on all the hair
21. Garaghak's Sewer at the base of the hair and try to feather out for some transition
