This is the first tank I painted and I free-handed the camo pattern onto its body. If I was to do it again, I would mask as detailed below. This is mainly for efficiency.

  1. Basecoat with Japanese Uniform WWII .
  2. Mask roughly one thirs of the surface and paint/spray with Castellan Green .
  3. Now, mask another third of the body applying Mournfang Brown and Rhinox Hide , until you have a nice solid coat.
  4. Mix a little Ivory into your Japanese Uniform WWII and drybrush the yellow portion.
  5. Repeat on the green portion with 2:1 Loren Forest and Deathworld Forest .
  6. Drybrush the brown portion with Karak Stone .

Before we finish off the main colours, there are a few little bit to get blocked in.

  1. Basecoat the wheels and tank tracks with 1:1 Mechanicus Standard Grey and Abaddon Black .
  2. Basecoat the with Corvus Black

Now, I began adding some sponge chipping and scratchy edge highlights.

While I had each colour out, I took the time to pick out rivets too.

  1. On the green, I used Nurgling Green .
  2. On the yellow, I used Screaming Skull .
  3. On the brown section, I used Zandri Dust .
  4. Where the sponging and highlighting is particuarly thick, apply some Gunmetal Grey on edges and towards the top of chips. If you dont have this paint, just mix some Black into Leadbelcher .
  5. Now to finish off the last few bits...
  6. Edge highlight the rubber wheels with Mechanicus Standard Grey .
  7. Now highlight the top edges with fine lines of Dawnstone .
  8. Baseboat the machine guns and any bare working metals with Leadbelcher .
  9. Wash the same metals with Nuln Oil .
  10. Drybrush the tracks with Exhaust Manifold .
  11. Now wash the tracks with a 1:1 mix of Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade .
  12. To add a little more realism, I jabbed some Vallejo Pigment Burnt Sienna (73.106) into tracks and where dirt would have flicked up into the inner workings.
