Paint recipe for the Horus Heresy primarch, Konrad Curze (and other Night Lords).
This recipe uses an airbrush for the initial stages, and normal brushes for subsequent refinement. The airbrush is absolutely not necessary, but makes the early stages quicker! I also rushed the process when making the photos; I'm sure yours will look better!
Update: I've since decided this approach is a bit to vivid for a whole army, so a more muted, less neon method is included in my Salamanders tutorial: https://paintpad.app/recipes/2325-salamanders-v0-9
Chaos Alpha Legion
airbrush required.....
Credit to Silvernome for teal armor and trim.
General tips: leave helmet/heads separate from bodies. Batch painting is recommended. Wet pallet not required, but recommended for non airbrush parts.
Here's the recipe I use for my Crimson Fists. (it will lean heavily on Scale 75 paints, with help from some friends.) This tutorial will focus on Characters, and character type models, as I'll build another specifically for "rank-n-file" troops.
One of my favourite models from the "Mercenaries" set. This sculpt seemed like a good excuse to experiment with texture and a couple of new techniques, to get it closer to the artwork.
How I painted this tiny wrestler from the "Brutally Devious Shadow Mania" team for Rumbleslam. Be sure to check out my guide for the full team, if you want to see the other members.
This scheme is based strongly on the official artwork from Sean Sutter, for this new game. How to paint a team of Red Knights to a decent standard. These knights will also be doing double duty in my retinues for "The Barons' War".
How I painted my copy of the official 'Warrior Priest' model for the new game 1490 Doom. I looked at a load of artwork for medieval priests and found one I liked. I took those colour choices and applied it to the (admittedly different) equipment of my Warrior Priest. No regrets.
This is a reminder to myself of my current method of painting Salamanders; I'll probably tweak it as I go as I discover ways to achieve the same effects more efficiently; There's a lot of models to get through! This is an attempt to paint to a high tabletop standard; I'm not aiming to just get the models done as quickly as possible, and I want to enjoy the process and have an army to be proud of.
I'll add photos later on, as some of the descriptions below might not be entirely clear.
As is usual with my methods, this may be wildly overcomplicated and use a lot of different paints, but I can't resist experimenting with new toys!
How I painted the Jormungandr colour scheme, part of a larger video on painting a variety of Tyranid Hive Fleets.
Mainly to keep track of my recipe better than my phone's notes
