This is a custom recipe of mine trying to achieve the look of orks as depicted on "Assault On Black Reach" from 2008.
Wargs aren’t noble wolves or pristine hunting hounds — they’re the half-feral nightmares that stalk ruined roads and blasted hillsides, bred (or broken) into weapons. This guide leans into that: muddy, natural fur, cold, unhealthy skin, and a wet, brutal mouth that makes the face the focal point. Technically, the key is texture contrast: dry, coarse fur against smoother grey skin, then sharp teeth and glossy tongue to finish.

I change little details in this recipe a lot – why not, they're Orks – but this is a good rundown of how I do the overall scheme across my army. Everything here translates to vehicles and infantry.
Here is my recipe for Saurus Warriors. I went the direction of the box art, but wanted the color to be a bit darker/muted.
How I painted these tiny hobbit wrestlers from "The Heavy Pounders" team for Rumbleslam. Be sure to check out my guide for the full team, if you want to see the other members.
