This is my take on the Bloodgorged warband colour scheme, featured in the Khorne Daemonkin codex from 7th Ed. 40k.

The main colours are brass, red, and silver.

General Information:

My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.

I don't own an airbrush, so the recipe will mainly consist of brush on paints.

Priming:

I find the metallic sprays from GW tend to be a little on the transparent side, so an initial undercoat of black helps.

  1. Prime the model lightly with Chaos Black
  2. Prime over that with a coat of Leadbelcher

Silver (Armour Trim)

I generally start with the armour trim so that any time I get paint on another piece its easy to cover later.

For grenades, replace Nuln Oil with Athonian Camoshade

  1. Drybrush over the model lightly with Leadbelcher to even out the colour
  2. Shade the recesses and around any rivets with Nuln Oil
  3. Highlight any fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver

Red (Armour Panels - Shoulder Pads, Feet, Shin Plates, Backpack Panel):

  1. Base with Mephiston Red
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Highlight the edges with Wild Rider Red
  4. Highlight fine points with Fire Dragon Bright

Brass (Armour Panels - Head, Chest, Arms, Thigh Plates, Backpack Vents):

  1. Base with Balthasar Gold
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver

Grey (Details - Weapon Wraps, Cloth, Tabard):

  1. Base with Mechanicus Standard Grey
  2. Shade in the recesses with Nuln Oil
  3. Highlight the edges with Dawnstone
  4. Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Administratum Grey

Black (Details - Armour Ribbing):

  1. Base with Abaddon Black
  2. Highlight the edges with Eshin Grey

Green (Details - Lenses):

  1. Base with Caliban Green
  2. Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
  3. Layer the middle with Warpstone Glow
  4. Add a fine line of Moot Green
  5. Add points of Yriel Yellow

Brown (Details - Leather Pouches):

  1. Base with Rhinox Hide rhino
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade agrax
  3. Roughly highlight the edges with Skrag Brown skrag
  4. Add a fine highlight with Ushabti Bone

Beige (Details - Horns, Teeth):

  1. Base with Rakarth Flesh Rakar
  2. Layer the upper half with Skrag Brown
  3. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade agrax
  4. Highlight the lower edges with Rakarth Flesh rampart
  5. Add point highlights of Pallid Wych Flesh
