This is my take on the paint scheme of the Steel Brethren warband, an offshoot of the Iron Warriors legion.

The main colours are black and silver.

General Information:

My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.

I don't own an airbrush, so the recipe will mainly consist of brush on paints.

Priming:

I find the metallic sprays from GW tend to be a little on the transparent side, so an initial undercoat of black helps.

1. Prime the model lightly with Chaos Black
2. Prime over that with Leadbelcher

Silver (Armour Trim and Panels):

1. Drybrush over the model with Leadbelcher to even out the coverage
2. Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
3. Drybrush upper surfaces and edges with Ironbreaker
4. Add a rust effect with thinned Skrag Brown in the recesses
5. Add some grime with a select layer of thinned Sotek Green in the recesses
6. Layer some parts of trim with Agrax Earthshade
7. Highlight the edges with Stormhost Silver

Black (Details - Left Shoulder Pads, Cables, Gun Casings, Vents):

1. Base with Abaddon Black
2. Highlight the edges with Eshin Grey
3. Add a fine highlight of Dawnstone on fine points and sharp edges

Red (Details - Cloth, Wraps, Lenses):

1. Base with Mephiston Red
2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
3. Layer the middle with Evil Sunz Scarlet
4. Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Fire Dragon Bright

Brown (Details - Leather Pouches):

1. Base with Rhinox Hide
2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
3. Roughly highlight the edges with Skrag Brown
4. Add a fine highlight of Ushabti Bone

Beige (Details - Horns, Teeth):

1. Base with Rakarth Flesh
2. Layer the upper half with Skrag Brown
3. Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
4. Highlight the edges with Pallid Wych Flesh
5. Add tips with Abaddon Black
